Rule: We can use to+verb to talk about purpose. In more formal language or in writing, we can also use in order to+verb.
Examples:
1º Mr. Reeder jumped into the water in order to help the baby boy.
2º He looked into the well to see why the donkey was quiet.
3º She stopped on the waterfront to rescue a small boy.
