So and Such
Grammar
1º I´m so hungry. Can you tell them to hurry up, please?
2º I think the president is such a good-looking man.
3º Black cats are such unlucky animals.
Rule: We can use so or such to emphasize adjectives, advebs, nouns, and noun phrases:
1º So + adjective/adverb
2º Such (+ a/an)(+ adjective) + noun
Examples:
1º He´s so boring that I can´t stand it anymore.
2º I´m so tired that I´m almost in tears.
3º My children are making such a loud noise upstairs that I can´t think.
4º Some people call for such unimportant reasons that it´s hard to believe these calls are real.
Rule: We also use so or such to show how one thing is a result of another. We form the sentence in the same way and so or such is followed by that.
